O uso do celular na adolescência e sua relação com a família e grupo de amigos

Abstract

Esta dissertação investiga, desde a perspectiva psicossocial, o fenômeno do uso do celular na adolescência e sua repercussão na família e grupo de amigos. Para tanto ela foi dividida em dois artigos. O primeiro artigo apresenta um levantamento sobre o tema do uso do celular, descrevendo o panorama da telefonia móvel no Brasil, enfocando o papel do jovem e da família no processo de difusão dessa tecnologia no país. O segundo artigo apresenta os resultados da investigação com 534 adolescentes de ambos os sexos, com idades entre 12 e 17 anos, estudantes de escolas públicas e privadas de Porto Alegre. Os resultados indicam que o celular exerce um papel no processo de construção da identidade do jovem e no desenvolvimento de suas relações sociais.

This dissertation investigates the phenomena of the use of mobile phones in the adolescence phase and its repercussions in the family and group of friends, from a psychosocial perspective. The study has been divided into two articles. The first article provides an overview of the mobile phones in Brazil focusing on the role of the adolescents and the family in the process of disseminating this technology. The second article presents the results of an investigation including 534 adolescents, male and female, between 12 and 17 years old, students from public and private schools in Porto Alegre. Results indicated that the mobile phone has an important role in the foundation of the youth’s identity as well as in the development of their social relationships.
