| Resumen: | O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar o Instituto Nacional de Ciência Política (INCP), organização civil que teve como principal idealizador o intelectual, político e literato gaúcho Pedro Vergara. O INCP reuniu diversos intelectuais brasileiros entre os anos de 1940 e 1945, com o propósito de estudar os principais estadistas brasileiros, em especial, a obra do presidente Getúlio Vargas. A instituição organizou diversos debates e conferências na Associação Brasileira de Imprensa (ABI), o que a levou a se definir como uma “Escola de Patriotismo” a serviço da nação. Ou seja, o INCP desempenhou um importante papel como propagandista do Estado Novo. Para compreender a formação, organização e estruturação dessa instituição, a metodologia de pesquisa consistiu na análise das revistas Visão Brasileira e Ciência Política, publicadas pelo INCP e que refletiam as atividades desenvolvidas por essa instituição. Além dessas fontes, a pesquisa na imprensa jornalística do período contribui para abranger a compreensão do objeto. A fim de atribuir uma definição ao Instituto e aos seus membros, se fez uso de conceitos como os de “espaço de sociabilidade” e “intelectual”, acepções que ajudaram a compreender o papel desempenhado por essa instituição no período e a relação desses intelectuais com o Estado.
The present work aims to analyze the National Institute of Political Science (INCP), a civil organization whose main idealizer was the intellectual, political and literate gaucho Pedro Vergara. The INCP brought together several Brazilian intellectuals from 1940 to 1945, with the purpose of studying the main Brazilian statesmen, especially the work of President Getúlio Vargas. The institution organized several debates and conferences at the Brazilian Press Association (ABI), which led it to define itself as a "School of Patriotism" at the service of the nation. That is, INCP played an important role as propagandist of Estado Novo. In order to understand the formation, organization and structuring of this institution, the research methodology consisted of the analysis of the Brazilian Vision and Political Science journals, published by INCP and reflecting those developed by this institution. In addition to these sources, research in the journalistic press of the period contributes to encompass the understanding of the object. In order to assign a definition to the Institute and its members, concepts such as "space of sociability" and that of “intelectual” were used, meaning that helped to understand the role played by this institution in the period and the relation of these intellectuals with the state. |
