A influência da conferência de Medellín na vida eclesial da arquidiocese de Porto Alegre no período de 1968 a 1979

Abstract

A presente pesquisa aborda a influência, na Arquidiocese de Porto Alegre - Rio Grande do Sul, da II Conferência Geral do Episcopado Latino-Americano, acontecida na cidade de Medellín - Colômbia, em 1968. O objetivo desta Conferência foi aplicar as resoluções do Concílio Ecumênico Vaticano II (1962-1965) para a América Latina. A pesquisa inicia com um estudo sobre a Conferência, para passar a analisar a sua influência teológica e pastoral na Arquidiocese de Porto Alegre, nos anos setenta, ou seja, no intervalo entre esta Conferência e a seguinte, realizada em Puebla - México, em 1979. Apesar da natural resistência a Medellín, constatou-se que ela proporcionou um notável impulso eclesial nesta Igreja Particular, favorecendo a formação da consciência de que a Igreja é uma comunidade de irmãos e todos juntos devem evangelizar, respondendo aos desafios próprios do momento histórico. Foram criados diversos projetos pastorais que contemplaram, de modo especial, a promoção humana, a família, a juventude, a catequese e a liturgia, além de conselhos e comissões, que resultaram em um legado de formação de liderança religiosa e laical. Assim, proporcionou atualização teológica e renovação pastoral. O Sínodo Arquidiocesano de 1970 adquiriu relevância nesta caminhada pós-Medellín e tornou-se determinante para a atualização teológica do clero e a renovação pastoral, gerando um período de despertar de forças vivas, sob a coordenação do Arcebispo e dos Bispos-auxiliares, e com a participação efetiva do clero, dos religiosos, das religiosas e dos leigos.

This research addresses the influence of the Second General Conference of Latin American Bishops, held in Medellin – Colombia (1968), in the Archdiocese of Porto Alegre - Rio Grande do Sul. The aim of this conference was to apply the resolutions of Vatican II Council (1962-1965) for Latin America. The research begins with a study on the Conference, to spend analyzing their theological and pastoral influence on the Archdiocese of Porto Alegre, in the seventies, it means, the interval between this and the following Conference, held in Puebla - Mexico in 1979. Despite the natural resistence to Medellin, it was found that this conference provided a remarkable impulse in this particular Church, encouraging the formation of the conscience that the Church is a community of brothers, and that together we must evangelize, responding to the challenges of its own historical moment. Many pastoral projects were created, and they contemplated in a particular way the human development, family, youth, catechesis and liturgy, in addition to advices and commissions, which resulted in a legend of religious and laical leadership formation. By this way, it provided theological and pastoral renewal. The Archdiocesan Synod in 1970 acquired relevance in this walk post-Medellin and became crucial to the theological update of the clergy and the pastoral renewal, generating a period of awakening for the active forces, under the coordination of the Archbishop and auxiliary bishops, and the effective participation of the clergy, religious women and man, and laity.
