A representação do rock em narrativas juvenis brasileiras

Abstract

O presente trabalho de Mestrado, com base em estudos literários, sociológicos e musicais, analisa a representação do ritmo musical rock em três narrativas juvenis brasileiras: O anjo do rock, de Carlos Magno Potyguar, A garota e o roqueiro, de Luiz Antonio Aguiar, e Angústia de Fausto, de Paula Mastroberti. As análises são feitas através de um cruzamento entre as artes, literatura e música, com o intuito de investigar a contribuição da música para a narrativa. Sob o alicerce da Melopoética, um campo da Literatura Comparada, é possível traçar a interface das duas expressões artísticas. Para isso, estudam-se, em um primeiro momento, as características do gênero narrativo, do indivíduo jovem e da literatura a ele dirigida. Posteriormente, apresenta-se a Melopoética de dois pontos de vista: cultural e estrutural. Tal construção teórica sustenta as análises das obras juvenis selecionadas. Os dados colhidos revelam que o rock, ritmo musical do agrado do público juvenil, estabelece um diálogo com a expressão literária, na medida em que se transforma em tema das narrativas. Mostrando-se em diferentes modalidades, o ritmo contribui para a construção de sentidos, enriquecendo o imaginário cultural da juventude.

This Master’s thesis, based on literary, sociological and musical studies, analyzes the representation of rock in Brazilian literature for young people through the following works of art: O anjo do rock, by Carlos Magno Potyguar, A garota e o roqueiro, by Luiz Antonio Aguiar and Angústia de Fausto, by Paula Mastroberti. The analyses are performed through an interface among arts, literature and music, in order to investigate the contribution of music to narrative. Under the scope of Melopoética, a field of Comparative Literature, it is possible to design the interface between both artistic expressions. First, the characteristics of the narrative genre, the young person and the literature addressed to him are analyzed. Second, Melopoética is presented from two points of view: cultural and structural. Such theoretical construction supports the analyses of the works of art selected. The data reveal that rock music pleases the young audience, establishing a dialogue with the literary expression as it turns into the theme of the narratives. The rhythm, shown in different ways, contributes to the construction of meanings, enriching the cultural imagination of young people.
