A insurreição no meu quintal: processo decisório e percepção da diplomacia norte-americana durante a Revolução Cubana (1958-1960)

Abstract

O presente trabalho aborda a percepção e o processo decisório da diplomacia norte-americana ao longo dos primeiros anos da Revolução Cubana, entre 1958 e 1960. Os documentos aqui utilizados são oriundos da coleção Foreign Relations of the United States, uma das principais fontes de pesquisa sobre a política externa dos Estados Unidos. O foco da pesquisa se concentra na análise de como os conflitos internos do Departamento de Estado e seus estereótipos sobre a América Latina, acabaram afetando a constituição de uma política externa para Cuba naquele momento de crise.

This dissertation treats about the State Department’s perception and decision making process during the early years of the Cuban Revolution, between 1958 and 1960. The documental source of this research comes from the Foreign Relations of the United States, one of the most important collections of its kind, allowing historians to have a better understanding of the nature that guides the US foreign relations. Also, the analysys here is focused into the understanding of how the historical stereotypes about the Latin Americans and the American political traditions mix togheter to draw a foreign policy to Cuba on that moment of crisis.
