Fotografias e códigos culturais: representações da sociabilidade carioca pelas imagens da revista Careta : 1919-1922

Abstract

Este trabalho propõe a análise das imagens fotográficas publicadas entre 1919 e 1922 no periódico semanal ilustrado Careta. Enfatiza questões concernentes às relações de sociabilidade implícitas nas imagens fotográficas da revista, destacando grupos sociais, locais de relacionamento e modelos sugestivos para a constituição de uma espécie de pedagogia do olhar, tanto sobre a cidade quanto seus indivíduos. Desta forma, a pesquisa busca a identificação de um possível recorte cultural e as representações sociais construídas pela revista. Visa utilizá-la como pressuposto para uma reflexão sobre os padrões de comportamento reproduzidos a partir de uma espécie de contrato social, estabelecido entre aquele que fotografa e aquele que se deixa fotografar. Estas percepções são parcelas formadoras para a criação de um determinado imaginário urbano sobre os códigos culturais da cidade. Mesmo não constituintes de uma realidade vivenciada pela maioria da população, estes códigos ganham significativa representatividade e assumem, no decorrer do tempo, um sentido generalizante. Estas fotografias apresentaram-se como uma materialidade que interagiu no comportamento e no imaginário dos indivíduos, tanto durante quanto depois do ato fotográfico, estando integrada num processo cognitivo que se relacionou ao consumo de imagens e à busca de identidades representativas das elites e camadas médias urbanas na década de 1920.

This work considers the analysis of the photographic images published between 1919 and 1922 in the periodic weekly one illustrated Careta. It emphasizes questions to the implicit relations of sociability in the photographic images of the magazine, detaching social, local groups of relationship and suggestive models for the constitution of a species of pedagogy of the look, as much on the city how much its individuals. Of this form, the research searches the identification of a possible cultural clipping and the constructed social representations assumed by the magazine. It aims at to use it as estimated for a reflection on the reproduced standards of behavior from a social contract species, established between that it photographs and that one that if leaves to photograph. These perceptions are former parcels for the imaginary determined creation of one urban one on the cultural codes of the city. Exactly not constituent of a reality lived deeply for the majority of the population, these codes gain significant representation and assume, in elapsing of the time, a generalization sense. These photographs had been presented as a materiality that interacted in the behavior and the imaginary one of the individuals, as much during how much after the photographic act, being integrated in a cognitive process that if related to the consumption of images and the search of representative identities of the elites and urban average layers in the decade of 1920.
