Representações da maternidade em contos da Literatura Brasileira Contemporânea

Abstract

Historicamente, a figura da mãe foi idealizada com base no mito do amor materno incondicional e inabalável, que está relacionado a diversos interesses sociais, econômicos e religiosos. Na certeza de que o tema se trata de uma questão que impacta diretamente a emancipação intelectual e física da mulher, o presente trabalho pretende refletir sobre as representações da figura da mãe em contos da literatura brasileira contemporânea, contrapondo com estereótipos impostos à mulher socialmente. Além disso, busca-se analisar se as imposições sociais apresentam-se da mesma forma para todas as mulheres, a partir da diversidade de suas vivências, etnias e contextos nos quais estão inseridas, tanto nas narrativas literárias quanto na sociedade. Com o intuito de averiguar de que maneira a imagem materna foi construída e entender como é estabelecida até os dias atuais, utiliza-se como base teórica e instrumento de investigação crítica os estudos das teorias feministas. Os contos literários examinados, que são de autoria das escritoras contemporâneas Clarice Lispector, Conceição Evaristo e Giovana Madalosso, respectivamente das obras Laços de Família, Olhos D’água e A teta racional, tratam de assuntos acerca da maternidade que circundam as mulheres da idade média ao período atual. Nas respectivas narrativas abordadas, constata-se discussões a respeito da maternidade que não vão de encontro com os padrões que a sociedade considera como o de mãe ideal. A partir disso, observa-se a necessidade de que a maternidade seja analisada e discursada como uma experiência plural.

Historically, the mother figure has been idealized based on the myth of unconditional and unshakable maternal love, which is related to several social, economic and religious interests. Certain that the theme is an issue that directly impacts the intellectual and physical emancipation of women, the present work intends to reflect on the representations of the mother figure in short stories from contemporary Brazilian literature, contrasting them with socially imposed stereotypes of women. Moreover, it seeks to analyze whether the social impositions are presented in the same way for all women, based on the diversity of their experiences, ethnicities and contexts in which they are inserted, both in literary narratives and in society. In order to investigate how the maternal image was constructed and to understand how it is established until today, the studies of feminist theories are used as a theoretical basis and as an instrument of critical investigation. The literary tales examined, which are by contemporary writers Clarice Lispector, Conceição Evaristo and Giovana Madalosso, respectively from the works Laços de Família, Olhos D'água and A teat rational, deal with issues about maternity that surround women from the middle ages to the current period. In the respective narratives, there are discussions about motherhood that do not meet the standards that society considers as the ideal mother. Based on this, there is a need for motherhood to be analyzed and discussed as a plural experience.
