Ocaso fantástico

Abstract

O presente trabalho é composto por duas partes: um ensaio e um texto literário. O ensaio, intitulado “Narrativas procedimentais: sorte e agência na construção do texto ficcional”, explora formas literárias cuja escrita combina ficção e regras a fim de formar um texto que foge ao controle completo do autor e cuja fruição advém também da compreensão de suas leis de construção. Exploramos brevemente esses formatos, a exemplo das criações do Oulipo (Oficina de Literatura Potencial), da escrita conceitual de Kenneth Goldsmith e das narrativas procedimentais digitais criadas com a linguagem Tracery, a fim de identificar um efeito de leitura particular — um efeito que surge a partir da existência de sorte ou de agência do leitor, e que distingue tais produtos da ficção tradicional. Já o texto literário, de nome “Ocaso Fantástico”, é uma coletânea de contos no campo do fantástico e da ficção especulativa, com inspiração em Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges e Julio Cortázar, entre outros, onde figuram personagens à volta com armadilhas existenciais, ciclos sem fim e epifanias sobre a vida, criação e propósito

The following work is comprised of two sections: an essay and a literary text. The essay, titled “Procedural narratives: luck and agency in the construction of fictional text”, explores literary forms in which the writing combines fiction and rules in order to build a text that escapes the author’s control, texts in which the reading also depends on understanding the design principles. We briefly discuss this type of writing, departing from the creations of Oulipo (Workshop of Potential Literature), the conceptual writing of Kenneth Goldsmith and the procedural narratives build digitally with the aid of the Tracery language, in order to identify a particular reading effect — one that comes forward through the existence of luck or reader agency, and that distinguishes these works from traditional fiction. The literary section, “Fantastic Twilight”, on the other hand, is a collection of fantastic and speculative short stories, inspired by authors such as Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortázar, among others. The stories show characters trapped by existential pitfalls, everlasting cycles and epiphanies on life, creation and purpose
