| Resumo: | O presente trabalho analisa os elementos da narrativa fantástica especificamente na obra O Senhor dos Anéis, de J.R.R.Tolkien. A guerra é um tema recorrente na literatura desde os gregos antigos, e estudos sobre a representação da guerra na literatura são abundantes. As guerras tematizadas muitas vezes são de conhecimento do grande público, com grandes obras que fazem alusão a acontecimentos históricos importantes como, por exemplo, a Guerra Civil Espanhola, a Guerra Civil Americana, a Segunda Guerra Mundial etc. A literatura adota, a partir disso, uma ampla variedade de abordagens em seus esforços para compreender a experiência da guerra. Há nesse sentido estudos sobre vários gêneros, incluindo poesia, drama, contos, romances, graphic novels etc. Mas, e quando as guerras presentes na literatura não são históricas? De que maneira as literaturas que tratam de guerras que nunca existiram no universo extraliterário se apresentam? Neste trabalho, analisa-se como a guerra é representada em literaturas que trata de mundos, eventos e histórias que não possuem um referencial direto no universo extraliterário. Para tanto, busca-se no campo das Relações Internacionais o conceito de guerra. No campo da Teoria da Literatura, buscam-se teóricos que discutem o conceito de literatura fantástica para que se possa fundamentar a pesquisa do presente trabalho.
The present work analyzes these specific elements in the The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. War has been a recurring theme in literature since ancient Greeks, and studies of the representation of war in literature are abundant. Themed wars are often known to the public, with great works being written depicting historical wars, such as the Spanish Civil War, American Civil War, World War II, etc. The literary production adopts a wide range of approaches in order to comprehend the war experience and it includes studies on several literary genres, including poetry, drama, short stories, novels, graphic novels etc. But what about when the wars presented in literature are not historical events? How do the literature dealing with wars that never existed in the extraliterary universe present themselves? In this work, we analyze how war is depicted in the literature dealing with worlds, events and stories that do not have a direct reference in the extraliterary universe. To do so, we research for a concept of war in the International Relations, which has war as its main object of study. In the field of Literature, we search for scholars who deal with the definition of the concept of fantastic literature to support this research. |
