Os generais ditadores (1964-1985) como presidentes de honra do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro

Abstract

Este trabalho procura analisar as relações estabelecidas entre o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro, o IHGB, e os chefes de Estado da ditadura civil militar (1964-1985), sobretudo através do título de Presidentes Honorários da Instituição concedido aos chefes de Estado quando no exercício dos seus mandados, conforme previsto nos estatutos do Instituto. O outro fator de relação entre o Instituto e o regime ditatorial a ser analisado é o financiamento estatal do Instituto através do repasse de verbas e auxílios financeiros feitos por cada chefe de Estado à Instituição. Ademais, a presença de autoridades políticas do regime no Instituto também revela a próxima relação estabelecida entre o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro e a ditadura civil militar. Através da análise desta relação, verificar elementos subjetivos que configurem uma postura e um posicionamento político do Instituto diante destes chefes de Estado e da própria ditadura.

This work seeks to analyze the relations established between the Brazilian Historical and Geographical Institute, the IHGB, and the heads of State of the military civil dictatorship (1964-1985), especially through the title of Honorary Presidents of the Institution granted to the heads of State when in the exercise of their mandates, as provided for in the statutes of the Institute. The other factor of relationship between the Institute and the dictatorial regime to be analyzed is the state funding of the Institute through the transfer of funds and financial aid made by each head of State to the Institution. In addition, the presence of political authorities of the regime in the Institute also reveals the next relationship established between the Historical and Brazilian Geographical Institute and the military civilian dictatorship. Through the analysis of this relation, to verify subjective elements that constitute a position and a political position of the Institute before these heads of State and of the military civil dictatorship itself.
