| Abstract: | This study aims to discuss sustainable development and culture of peace as challenges for Social Work in order to contribute with the construction of a sustainable society which has the balance of environmental, economic and social factors as indispensable. The discussion of sustainable development and culture of peace is relevant since the environment is one of the expressions of the social question, object of Social Work. When it is discussed about environment, it is also included the role of human being, nature, social relations, and violence and social exclusion as factors that make it difficult the construction of a culture of peace. This could happen through interventions that make it possible the development of a critical consciousness and actions directed to the culture of peace which propose a solidarity ethic that could be built through the sustainable development and co-responsibility. The present research emphasizes the work developed by the social workers and a biologist from NGO Redecriar – Recycling Citizenship in Interdisciplinary Network in the State School General Ibá Ilha Moreira, in Porto Alegre, RS. All the research’s subjects were participants of the pre-test project developed in the school which included the direction, the teachers, the students, the school community and the professionals of the NGO. The results of this work indicate that there was an increase of the articulation of the school with the network of services, and increase of family participation in the school, a valorization of the student’s protagonist role, and development of an ecological consciousness through garbage, composting, vegetables growing and income generation workshops for the families. These actions have contributed for the prevention of violence in schools towards sustainability and the construction of a culture of peace. This study points out to the urgency for intervention in these themes, giving visibility to the contribution of Social Work in this process.
Este trabalho visa discutir o Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Cultura da Paz como desafios para o Serviço Social para contribuir com a construção de uma sociedade sustentável que tem o equilíbrio entre os fatores ambiental econômico e social como indispensável. A discussão do desenvolvimento sustentável e da cultura da paz apresenta-se pertinente, ao constatar-se que o meio ambiente configura-se como uma das múltiplas expressões da questão social, objeto de trabalho do Serviço Social. Quando é discutido sobre o meio ambiente, discute-se também sobre o papel do ser humano, da natureza, das relações sociais e a questão da violência e da exclusão social como fatores que obstacularizam a construção de uma cultura de paz. São abordadas intervenções que possibilitam uma maior consciência crítica e ações voltadas para uma cultura de paz que propõe uma ética de solidariedade que pode ser construída através do desenvolvimento sustentável a partir da co-responsabilidade. A pesquisa realizada enfatiza o trabalho desenvolvido por assistentes sociais e bióloga pertencentes a ONG REDECRIAR — Reciclando a Cidadania em Rede Interdisciplinar, na Escola Estadual General Ibá Ilha Moreira, em Porto Alegre, RS. Todos os sujeitos da pesquisa foram participantes do Projeto Piloto na escola, que envolveu o corpo diretivo, docente, discente, comunidade escolar e os profissionais da ONG. Os resultados do trabalho indicam que houve uma maior articulação da escola com a rede de serviços, maior participação da família na escola, valorização do protagonismo dos alunos, desenvolvimento de uma consciência ecológica através de reciclagem do lixo, compostagem, cultivo de hortas e oficinas de geração de renda com familiares. Estas ações contribuíram para a prevenção da violência no meio escolar em direção à sustentabilidade e construção de uma cultura de paz. Este estudo aponta para a urgência da intervenção nesta temática, dando visibilidade a contribuição do Serviço Social neste processo. |
