| Abstract: | O presente trabalho tem por objetivo descrever e analisar o processo de alçamento sem motivação aparente das vogais médias pretônicas /e/ e /o/ no português falado em Porto Alegre – RS. O estudo possui um total de 36 informantes divididos em duas amostras: 88-89 e 07-09. A análise foi realizada à luz Teoria da Variação. Os resultados mostraram que o processo de alçamento sem motivação aparente apresenta taxas baixas de aplicação no dialeto gaúcho e atinge mais a vogal /o/ do que a vogal /e/. Ao que tudo indica, o alçamento da vogal média /e/ possui condicionamento fonético, com papel das variáveis linguísticas Contexto Seguinte, Contexto Precedente, Altura da Vogal Seguinte, Altura da Vogal Precedente, Altura da Vogal Tônica Não Contígua, Nasalidade, Tipo de Sílaba e Classe Gramatical. Para a vogal /o/, foram selecionadas as variáveis linguísticas Contexto Seguinte, Contexto Precedente, Altura da Vogal Seguinte, Altura da Vogal Precedente, Altura da Vogal Tônica Não Contígua, Nasalidade, Tipo de Sílaba e Classe Gramatical. Em relação às variáveis sociais, Idade e Gênero foram selecionadas para as duas vogais médias, sendo a primeira para a amostra 88-89 e a segunda para a amostra 07-09. A análise das ocorrências que compõem as amostras permitiu a observação de concentração elevada de determinados radicais que influenciaram os resultados de variáveis linguísticas. Dessa forma, percebe-se que o processo apresenta condicionamento fonético e condicionamento lexical.
This paper aims at describing and analysing the rising process – without apparent motivation - of middle vowels /e/ and /o/ at pretonic position without high vowels at the tonic syllable, in spoken Portuguese of Porto Alegre – RS. The corpus of this study is composed of 36 speakers, being divided into two different samples – 88-89 and 07-09. The analysis was realized under the Variation Theory, as well as it also has been an attempt of observing the linguistic variation by difusionist approach. The results have presented that the rising process affects more vowel /o/ than vowel /e/. According to the analysis, the vowel /e/ is phonetically conditioned and the selected linguistic variables were Following Context, Preceding Context, Following Vocalic High, Preceding Vocalic High, Non-following Stressed Syllable Vocalic High, Nasality, Type of Syllabe and Grammatical Group. Considering vowel /o/, the selected linguistic variables were Following Context, Preceding Context, Following Vocalic High, Preceding Vocalic High, Non-following Stressed Syllable Vocalic High, Nasality, Type of Syllabe and Word Class. The results about social variables presented that Age and Gender were selected to both middle vowels, the first variable for 88-89 and the second for 07-09. However, an important concentration of determined stems influenced the results of this research and this points out that the rising of middle vowels at pretonic positions is phonetically and lexically conditioned. |
