| Abstract: | A presente pesquisa objetiva estudar como Dom Sebastião Dias Larangeira, segundo bispo do Rio Grande do Sul, aplicou no sul do império do Brasil a eclesiologia ultramontana, no contexto do conflito com o padroado régio, e as disposições do Concílio Vaticano I (1869 – 1870), e as consequências desse processo de implementação das disposições conciliares para a Igreja em Porto Alegre. Para isso, analisa de modo geral, a história da Igreja no Brasil e principal herança da eclesiologia portuguesa para o império brasileiro: o jurisdicionalismo ibérico, ou regalismo, que deu origem ao Padroado Régio. Estuda as consequências do regalismo para a Igreja no Brasil, para a hierarquia e para o processo de evangelização. Conhecendo essas consequências, estuda o pensamento de Dom Sebastião Larangeira a partir de suas cartas pastorais, antes e depois do Concílio Vaticano I, e procura analisar as portarias e decretos com os quais o bispo procurou regular a vida religiosa em Porto Alegre. Neste estudo, não passou despercebido a figura do Papa Pio IX, os principais documentos através dos quais expressou seu pensamento, e o próprio Concílio Vaticano I, os motivos que levaram à sua convocação e suas principais consequências.
This research aims to study how Dom Sebastião Dias Larangeira, second bishop of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, applied in the south of the Brazilian Empire the ultramontane ecclesiology, in the context of the conflict with the regal patronage, the arrangements of the First Vatican Council (1869 – 1870), and the consequences of this process of implementation of the conciliar arrangements to the Church in Porto Alegre. For that, analyses in general the history of the Church in Brazil and the main heritage of the Portuguese ecclesiology to the Brazilian Empire: the Iberian jurisdictionalism, or regalism, which created the Regal Patronage. It studies the consequences of regalism to the Church in Brazil, to its hierarchy and to the process of evangelization. Knowing these consequences, it studies the thoughts of Dom Sebastião Larangeira from his pastoral letters, before and after the First Vatican Council, and seeks to analyze the ordinances and decrees with which the bishop tried to control the religious life in Porto Alegre. In this study, it was not impossible to notice the image of the Pope Pius IX, the main documents from where it expressed his thoughts, and the First Vatican Council itself, the motifs that were taken to his convocation and its main consequences. |
